We’re thrilled to bring you some exciting updates about the next chapter of Our Space Selby!
After years of hard work, collaboration, and community spirit, our brand-new community hub is officially complete and ready to open its doors to you all. 🏠
As reported in the Selby Times, Our Space Selby has been transformed from a derelict shop into a vibrant, welcoming hub for the community. Richard Cooke, Chair of Our Space Selby, shared:
"This space is for everyone in the community. We want the hub to be a place of safety, where people can come and meet each other and volunteers to ease their loneliness, stress, and worries."
We’re so proud to see this vision becoming a reality, and we can’t wait to share it with you!
Grand Opening in January! 🎉
We’re excited to announce that Our Space Selby will officially open on January 6th, 2025! This marks the beginning of a new chapter, with opportunities to connect, create, and support one another.
The hub is designed to be a safe and welcoming haven, and our hope is that it becomes a space where everyone feels at home. Whether you’re looking for connection, support, or simply a space to enjoy, Our Space Selby is for you.

A Huge Milestone: Building Control Sign-Off ✅
We’re delighted to share that the hub has passed Building Control sign-off, as mentioned in the Selby Times:
"The former derelict shop, which was purchased by Selby Big Local, has been transformed into a vibrant, community-owned and community-led space."
This milestone represents a key step in turning our dreams into reality, and it wouldn’t have been possible without the dedication of our volunteers, the support of Selby Big Local, and the generous funding from the National Lottery Community Fund.
A total of £300,000 of the £1 million National Lottery Community Fund grant was used to renovate the building, and the result is something truly special. Together, we’ve created a space that belongs to everyone.
